Admissions Specialist (Early College Specialist) – UH Maui College Position: Full-Time Temporary Location: Kahului, Maui Opening Date: 07/14/2026 Closing Date: 08/03/2026 Position Number: 0097706T Salary: Pay Band B: Minimum $5,640/month NOTE: This is NOT a remote position; in-person work is required. Evening, weekend, and distance offerings at UH Maui College and/or Outreach sites (Hana, Lanai, Molokai) may be assigned as part of the regular workload. Continuation is dependent on program/operational needs, satisfactory performance, and availability of funds. Overview The Early College Specialist role includes two components: (1) responsibilities associated with early college programs, and (2) community outreach to Maui County secondary schools. This position supports the UH Maui College Early College Program through recruitment, admissions, and other high school support initiatives. Responsibilities Program Coordinator: Support collaborative partnerships with Maui County secondary schools as part of the UHMC early college program. Make judgments and decisions impacting recruitment, admissions, and student and high school support. Assist the Office of the Registrar with handling early college admissions processes; communicate with students, counselors, and instructors. Work with students interested in early college admission. Serve as a liaison to campus, secondary, and post-secondary educational partners. Provide support for enrollment and onboarding activities for identified groups of students and communicate regularly with high schools, students, parents, counselors, and faculty as a primary contact on campus for dual enrollment. Develop, define, and apply new and improved techniques, strategies, and methods to solve important problems in the process. Support and inform Enrollment Management Services, Academic Affairs, and campus partners regarding updates to multiple measures and academic preparation policies. Facilitate processes and communication. General Advising: Assist in organizing and implementing matriculation activities, such as orientation, advising, and follow-up services. Facilitate orientation for students, parents, and school district personnel new to the dual enrollment program. Deliver Early College presentations, offer individual and group school advising, and represent at community events (e.g., college fairs, parent nights) at local school sites. Coordinate targeted intervention needs between the college and instructors (tutoring, counseling, mentoring, etc.). Student Support: Provide student support services to early college high school students. Schedule training and oversee student assistants as technical support to remote learning sites and to guide students and instructors on classroom technologies. Create, administer, and summarize survey data each semester from college course instructors, parents, and students. Supervisory: Supervise student employees providing academic support measures (tutoring, mentoring, effective learning strategies). Monitor and coordinate work of lower-level personnel and student assistants. Review work and provide training; refer policy matters to the supervisor. Maintain positive working relationships with academic divisions, student services units, campus organizations, and College administration. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and assist with fiscal-related projects and program reviews to improve student outcomes. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Humanities, Social Science, Human Relations, or related field, and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience with student support services in higher education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of principles and practices in student services and educational records; understanding of federal and state laws and regulations related to educational records. Ability to resolve complex problems using creative reasoning and to communicate clearly in writing and verbally; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; proficiency with word processing and general computer use. For supervisory work, ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations. Desirable Qualifications Knowledge of FERPA regulations. Experience with student information databases in a college/university setting; experience with Banner Student Module. Understanding of University of Hawai‘i residency policies and employee/student regulations. Proficiency with data analysis, spreadsheets, presentations, and email tools.
