Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a 3x12-hour night shift position from 19:00 to 07:00. This role involves floating between units, with requirements for weekend coverage (one weekend every two weeks). Block scheduling is utilized to ensure consistency and support. The expected patient-to-nurse ratio for this position is 6:1.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience preferred.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Skills: Proficiency in blood product administration, central line blood draws, and managing surgical drains. Experience with high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), insulin protocols, and wound care is essential.
• Patient Ratios: Responsible for managing ratios of 5 patients during the day and 6 patients at night.

Facility Details

This facility operates as a short-term acute care center and is classified as a Level III Trauma Center. The patient demographic includes adults and geriatrics, focusing on a variety of medical and surgical cases ranging from post-operative care to internal medicine admissions.

Unit Information

The nursing unit employs a team-based care model that includes certified nursing assistants and resource nurses to support the nursing staff effectively. The daily census averages around 34 patients, with a total of 55 beds available. The unit is supported by interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy support.

Special Procedures

The unit receives a variety of post-operative cases, including:

• Appendectomy
• Cholecystectomy
• Knee replacement/revision
• Hip replacement/revision
• Colectomy/bowel resection
• Prostatectomy
• Nephrectomy

Additional Information

Candidates must be prepared for potential floating between nearby facilities. All required communication devices will be provided for performing job duties. It is essential to adhere to the contracted schedule, including working three out of five major holidays.
