Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantWe are seeking a Staff Accountant to support accounting operations across multiple entities within a communications agency environment. This role requires someone who can operate with a high level of accuracy, organization, and ownership, particularly in situations where processes may not always be fully defined. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to track and close tasks independently, while communicating clearly with internal teams and external stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesCore AccountingMaintain cashbook and perform bank reconciliationsManage accounts payable and accounts receivable processesRecord transactions accurately in NetSuite (or similar ERP)Invoicing & RevenuePrepare and issue client invoices, including expense rechargesBuild detailed supporting schedules for all invoicesEnsure full audit trail and documentation for all billed amountsIntercompany & Project AccountingHandle intercompany transactions and reconciliationsWork with internal teams to ensure proper cost allocation and trackingMaintain and update internal trackers (expenses, project costs, etc.)Month-End CloseSupport month-end close activitiesPrepare account reconciliations and resolve discrepanciesEnsure all items are tracked and completed on timeCommunication & Follow-upManage accounting-related communications with internal teams and external stakeholdersFollow up on outstanding items proactivelyEscalate issues when needed to ensure deadlines are metKey AttributesBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field2–4 years of accounting experience (agency or multi-entity a plus)Experience with AP/AR, reconciliations, and invoicingFamiliarity with NetSuite preferredStrong Excel skills, with a strong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage multiple tasks and follow through to completionClear and consistent communicationMaintain organized documentation and audit trailsProactive in identifying and resolving issuesWhat We OfferSalary Range: $60k-$72kHybrid: onsite 3 days a weekMedical, Dental, and Vision plans401K Employer Match programCommuter BenefitsPaid Time Off including Vacation Days, Personal Days, Sick Days, and additional Comp DaysCompany-wide closure last week of the year10 Federal Holidays ObservedAt The Independents Group, we are always looking for personalities with positive charisma who are enthusiastic, self-motivated, and have a keen sense of aesthetics.The Independents Group embraces and celebrates diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunity.
