Pharmacy Technician I – Prior Authorization (Remote)

Location: Remote (Must reside in the United States)
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Start Date: August 23, 2026

Training Schedule:

• August 23, 2026 – October 9, 2026
• Monday – Friday
• 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST
• No time off is permitted during training.

Work Schedule:

• Standard 8.5-hour workday.
• Permanent schedule assigned after training based on business needs.
• Typical shifts begin at 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, or 10:30 AM CST.
• Candidates must be available to work Central Time hours regardless of location.

Position Overview

We are seeking a licensed Pharmacy Technician to support the Prior Authorization team in a fully remote environment. This role provides exceptional customer service while assisting healthcare providers, pharmacies, and members throughout the prior authorization process. The ideal candidate has strong call center experience, excellent computer skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls from providers, pharmacies, members, and other healthcare professionals regarding prior authorization requests.
• Review, process, and document prior authorization requests received through fax and electronic prior authorization (ePA) systems.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation for all authorization activities.
• Transfer clinical questions, escalations, and judgment-based decisions to the pharmacist team.
• Make outbound calls as needed to obtain additional information or provide status updates.
• Monitor and respond to department mailboxes and electronic inquiries.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

• Active Pharmacy Technician license with no restrictions or National Pharmacy Technician Certification (or state-required certification/licensure).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-volume healthcare call center .
• Prior Authorization, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), or healthcare experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and coding.
• Strong computer navigation skills, including:
• • Copying and pasting
  • Opening and closing browser windows
  • Restarting a computer
  • Working with multiple applications simultaneously
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service, documentation, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting productivity and quality standards.

Remote Work Requirements

• Dedicated, private workspace that is HIPAA compliant and free from distractions.
• Wired internet connection with minimum speeds of:

• Ability to remain seated and focused throughout the scheduled workday.
