MEDICAL CODING AND BILLING SPECIALIST

Job Description Job Description Westside Podiatry is searching for a confident professional that is adept at medical insurance billing, coding, and receivables recovery, with a strong background in Athena. The candidate must have proven productivity track record, great attitude, thrive in a fast paced production environment, be quality oriented, and possess the ability to adapt to a variety of technologies. You will work closely with patients, providers, insurance companies, and medical/surgical representatives to ensure the proper revenue for the practice. Skills Required: You must have at least 3 years of in-depth medical business office experience. This should include experience with coding, posting, electronic remittance filing, A/R, plus strong positive working relationships with patients and insurance companies. We will only consider candidates with medical billing experience. Critical and analytical thinking is key. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment, take initiative, and have knowledge of all aspects of the medical billing revenue cycle. Responsibilities: •\tInsurance verification •\tReviewing explanation of benefits and correspondence •\tComposing appeals and reviewing medical records •\tPayment posting and writing off uncollectible accounts, after review with practice manager and doctor(s) •\tRunning and working A/R reports, reviewing reports with practice manager and doctor(s) •\tIdentifying problematic insurance company issues, ie: codes, payers, etc and notifying practice manager •\tWork closely (hand and hand) with Athena •\tWork managerial holds and other Athena buckets •\tScrub and edit claims prior to submitting •\tReview authorizations •\tKnowledge of pre-authorizations/pre-certifications •\tKnowledgeable of Medicare/Medicare products, Medicaid/Medicaid products, managed care products, Market Place, Military, and commercial insurance company products •\tTracking and managing all online insurance company log in information Requirements: •\tMust be able to pass a criminal background •\tKnowledge of HIPAA compliance, CMS1500 claim forms, ICD-10, CPT codes, and modifiers •\tWorking knowledge of computers such as Microsoft Word and Excel •\tAbility to type at least 45 wpm •\tGood written and verbal communication skills •\tAbility to communicate in a professional manner during interaction with colleagues, military clients, patients, as well as the private health insurance representatives •\tMust have reliable and verifiable work references * Possess strong analytical thinking and have great organizational skills Schedule: •\t8 hour shift •\tMonday to Friday Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred) •\tWork Location: One location *** A PLUS: Podiatry experience, working with Athena, credentialing, hospital surgical scheduling, and hospital surgical pre-certification. •\tPlease list a start date and salary requirements •\tPlease do not apply if you are not committed to commuting to Westside Podiatry (as your employer), daily and on time. •\tPlease do not apply if you are not committed to Westside Podiatry, as your long-term employer, as we are seeking to hire the best fit candidate to our TEAM Company Description We excel in healing Foot and Ankle conditions.
