Accounting Specialist

Compensation: $55,000 annually

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Specialist to manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, payment processing, and account reconciliation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, takes ownership of their work, and is committed to accuracy and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting activities, including invoicing, payment application, and account review.
• Research, process, and apply incoming and outgoing payments to the appropriate invoices.
• Monitor outstanding balances, review aging reports, and follow up on overdue accounts.
• Communicate with customers and vendors by phone and email regarding payments, collections, and billing inquiries.
• Enter customer invoices into online portals and resolve submission or billing issues.
• Investigate account discrepancies, resolve payment issues, and escalate concerns as needed.
• Assist with the monthly financial close process.
• Coordinate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely accounting processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve procedures and increase efficiency.
• Maintain organized records, prioritize competing deadlines, and provide general support to the accounting team as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or at least five years of equivalent work experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
• SAP experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional phone and customer service skills, including active listening and the ability to handle billing inquiries effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, customers, and vendors.
• A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn, adapt, and recommend process improvements.
