The Health Center Association of Nebraska (HCAN) is actively recruiting a Behavioral Health Specialist to join our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Grand Island, Nebraska, where you will provide high-quality, patient-centered behavioral health care for all. Mission-Driven Work – Be part of an organization that prioritizes accessible, affordable healthcare for all Work-Life Balance – Enjoy a Monday-Friday schedule and generous PTO Loan Repayment – Potential to qualify for student loan repayment programs Competitive Compensation – Compensation starting at $60k - $72k (depending on level of licensure and experience) and a comprehensive benefits package Supportive Team – Work with experienced providers, dedicated support staff, and an integrated care team where helping others is at the heart of everything we do Your Role: Provide supportive 15–30-minute behavioral health services to primary care providers (PCPs) and their patients (warm hand-offs), partnering with the PCP in improving the overall health of the patient Provide 30–60-minute behavioral health services to patients that can include complete history, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and/or referral within or outside the health center Conduct and facilitate support and treatment groups with patients of any age Refer those cases that require support (e.g., social work, WIC) or specialist services (e.g., psychiatry, inpatient treatment), but maintain responsibility, assuring that continuity of care is provided Ensure all documentation meets ethical and legal standards for every encounter with a patient Use the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for patient records, visit notes, billing etc. so that consistent data management can be maintained Participate in health promotion and disease prevention activities What We Are Looking For: Master’s Degree from an accredited training program; MA or MS in a clinical mental health program License or license-eligible to practice in the State of Nebraska, LIMHP preferred but LMHP or PLMHP are acceptable Comfort and experience working with patients across the life cycle Knowledge of public health principles and practices Demonstrated professional commitment to providing services to medically under-served individuals in a public health setting Ability to foster strong patient-provider relationships Bilingual English – Spanish highly preferred Live and work in a friendly community conveniently located in the heart of Nebraska Community features: access to parks, river and lake recreation, wildlife and outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and camping; entertainment offerings including horse races, a casino, concerts, and family-friendly events; vibrant shopping, dining, and cultural experiences in historic downtown; excellent schools Ready to Make a Difference?
