We are looking for a detail-oriented Customer Service Representative to join a food and food processing organization in Houston, Texas. This contract to permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys managing customer orders, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and keeping shipment information accurate and up to date. The person in this role will help support smooth order flow, timely delivery coordination, and reliable customer communication in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities: • Enter, review, and validate customer orders to confirm correct pricing, promotional details, lead times, and shipping instructions before release. • Investigate and resolve order issues by working closely with customers, brokers, and internal departments to ensure accurate fulfillment. • Set up and maintain outbound shipment records so deliveries can move efficiently through the shipping process. • Check invoicing and transportation documents for completeness and accuracy, correcting discrepancies when needed. • Track open orders and delivery timelines, helping address delays, backorders, and product shortages in a timely manner. • Communicate inventory constraints and product availability updates to customers and internal partners to support service expectations. • Collaborate with operations planning teams to respond to supply challenges and prepare for promotional volume changes. • Provide support to team members during seasonal spikes and other high-volume periods to maintain service levels. • Assist with customer account setup, updates, and ongoing maintenance while completing other assigned administrative support tasks.• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or at least 3 years of experience in customer service, order management, logistics, supply chain, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience handling order entry, shipment coordination, account support, or broader supply chain activities.
• Strong data entry and typing skills with a high level of accuracy when working with numeric and transactional information.
• Ability to provide attentive customer service while communicating effectively with external contacts and internal teams.
• Familiarity with shipping processes, domestic order fulfillment, and documentation review.
• Experience using EDI and other order processing systems; exposure to enterprise platforms such as Oracle and SAP is strongly preferred.
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment with changing business needs.
