Job Description

This role focuses on operating CNC mills and lathes to produce small, high-volume metal components for the automotive industry. You will load raw materials, run multiple machines within a closed machine cell, and ensure consistent, high-quality output. The position is ideal for someone with industrial machine operation experience who is eager to learn CNC processes in a structured, supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Load raw metal stock into CNC mills and lathes in accordance with established procedures.
• Operate 4–6 CNC machines simultaneously within a closed-off machine cell, monitoring each machine closely to ensure smooth and efficient production.
• Perform basic machine operation tasks as a button-pusher, following standard operating instructions; advanced tasks such as setups, tooling changes, and blueprint reading will be taught over time.
• Maintain continuous attention to machine performance, identifying and reporting any irregularities or issues promptly.
• Visually inspect machined parts after each cycle to confirm they meet basic quality standards.
• Use quality instruments and gauges, after training, to verify that finished parts meet specified dimensional and quality requirements.
• Handle and move parts throughout the production process, routinely lifting items around 5 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with industrial machinery and in a production environment.
• Support high-volume production goals by working efficiently and maintaining focus across multiple machines.
• Work scheduled second or third shift hours and participate in overtime as needed, including working every other Saturday based on production demands.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience operating industrial machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Consistent job tenure, typically 1 or more years in previous positions, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
• Positive attitude and readiness to learn new processes and skills.
• Strong attention to detail when monitoring machines and inspecting parts.
• Ability to operate CNC machinery as an equipment operator, including basic machine operation tasks.
• Comfort with repetitive, high-volume production work while maintaining quality standards.
• Ability to routinely lift parts weighing around 5 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds safely.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 1 or more years of CNC mill or lathe experience or exposure is preferred.
• Experience reading blueprints is a plus.
• Experience in machining or production environments is beneficial.
• Familiarity with using measurement and quality instruments to check part dimensions and specifications is an advantage.

Work Environment

The role is based in a machine shop that produces small automotive parts using multiple CNC mills and lathes. The facility is organized into approximately 6–7 machine cells, each containing about 4 CNC machines, and operators work inside closed-off cells while running several machines at once. The shop has a clean production floor for an automotive environment, contributing to a safe and orderly workspace. It is not air-conditioned, so temperatures can become hot during warmer months. The position is on second shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) or third shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.), with overtime driven by production needs and an expectation to work every other Saturday. You will work around industrial machinery, quality instruments, and production equipment in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing setting.

This is a Permanent position based out of New Troy, MI.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
