Job Summary: We are seeking a technically skilled Packaging Equipment Technician to support daily packaging operations through equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring packaging and labeling equipment operates efficiently while identifying and implementing process improvements to increase throughput, reduce waste, and improve overall reliability. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, analytical, and proactive, with the ability to diagnose issues, implement solutions, and collaborate closely with packaging staff to maintain consistent production performance. Key Responsibilities: Maintain and repair packaging and labeling equipment to ensure consistent operation Troubleshoot equipment and process issues; identify root causes and implement effective solutions Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of packaging and conveying machinery Coordinate with packaging staff to minimize downtime and ensure efficient workflow Train packaging specialists on proper equipment operation and changeover procedures Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and efficiency Assess packaging processes using a data-driven approach to identify opportunities for optimization Design and implement process improvements to reduce waste and increase productivity Utilize mechanical, electrical, fabrication, and/or 3D printing capabilities to develop innovative solutions Document maintenance activities, process changes, and improvement outcomes Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements Report on equipment performance, issues, and improvements to management Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude Experience with hand and power tools Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute work independently Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally Preferred Skills: 2‑year technical degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related field, or equivalent experience Experience in manufacturing, packaging, or production environments Demonstrated experience driving process improvements and efficiency gains Familiarity with fabrication, automation, or 3D printing technologies Experience in regulated industries preferred Working Conditions: This position is based near Cleveland, Ohio and may require occasional travel to other Buckeye Relief locations Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends based on operational needs Work is performed in a production environment requiring standing, walking, and working around machinery AAP/EEO Statement Buckeye Relief is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived race, creed, color, religion, alienage or national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, disability or handicap, sex, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
