Job Description

This Maintenance Technician role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production and facility equipment across two locations, with a strong emphasis on mechanical systems and basic electrical work. You will primarily support sterilization and packaging equipment, ensuring reliable operation of steam sterilizers, automated industrial washers, conveyor systems, and automation equipment. This is a weekend shift position, working independently from Thursday through Sunday to keep production running smoothly without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain consistent output.
• Perform preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs on production and facility equipment according to established schedules and priorities.
• Maintain and support steam sterilizers operating in high heat environments, ensuring safe and reliable performance.
• Maintain and support automated industrial washers operating at 480v, including diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.
• Maintain and support conveyor systems and packaging equipment to ensure smooth material flow and product handling.
• Maintain and support pneumatic presses and automation systems, including identifying and resolving pneumatic-related issues.
• Maintain and support laser and linear mechanical equipment, performing adjustments and basic repairs as needed.
• Conduct basic electrical troubleshooting on 110v–220v systems to identify and correct faults.
• Diagnose mechanical failures involving bearings, belts, alignment issues, pneumatics, and related components.
• Communicate effectively with equipment operators to identify root causes of issues and distinguish between mechanical problems and operator error.
• Perform basic calibration, alignment, and adjustments on equipment to ensure proper operation and product quality.
• Document maintenance activities accurately and completely to support maintenance history, compliance, and continuous improvement.
• Work independently as the solo maintenance technician on the weekend shift, prioritizing tasks and responding to issues without direct supervision.
• Support both production and facility equipment across two locations, coordinating work to keep all critical systems operational.
• Apply safe work practices when working with high heat, steam equipment, and electrical systems.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude, including hands-on experience with bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, alignment, pneumatics, and presses.
• At least 4+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience troubleshooting mechanical equipment, pneumatic systems, and automated production machinery.
• Basic electrical knowledge and troubleshooting skills for 110v–220v systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues confidently, with comfort in troubleshooting rather than heavy programming.
• Ability to work independently and operate as a solo maintenance technician on shift, including weekends.
• Demonstrated job stability and consistent work history.
• Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, manuals, and technical documentation.
• Comfort working in environments with heat, including around steam equipment, with willingness to train further on this equipment.
• Physical ability to perform hands-on maintenance work, including lifting up to approximately 50 lbs, bending, and other physical tasks required for equipment repair and upkeep.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with sterilization equipment or wash systems, including steam sterilizers and automated industrial washers.
• Experience with packaging equipment and conveyor systems in a production environment.
• Basic PLC troubleshooting skills (very light, not focused on programming).
• Technical certification, trade schooling, or formal training related to maintenance, industrial technology, or a similar field.
• Experience working with 480v systems, even if limited to a small number of systems on site.
• Prior experience working independently or alone on a shift in a maintenance capacity.
• Familiarity with hydraulics and related mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and apply information from technical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to quickly identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

Work Environment

The work environment is clean, organized, and temperature-controlled, providing a comfortable and safe setting for maintenance activities. You will support smaller facilities, so you will not need to cover large distances frequently, allowing you to focus on equipment reliability and quality of work. The production areas include steam sterilizers, automated industrial washers (including 480v systems), conveyor and packaging equipment, pneumatic presses, automation systems, and laser and linear mechanical equipment. You will work a weekend shift from Thursday through Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., operating as the primary maintenance technician during these hours. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52915.20 - $68473.60/yr.
