Service Engineer - Enterprise Server Hardware | Memphis, TN (Contract)

Join a high-impact, hands-on technical team as a Service Engineer supporting enterprise server hardware, including Dell PowerEdge systems, for clients in the Memphis, TN area. Responsibilities

- Provide on-site technical support, installation, and maintenance for Dell PowerEdge and other enterprise server hardware
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve server hardware failures and minimize customer downtime
- Perform hardware installation, removal, replacement, and repair for components such as memory, CPUs, power supplies, fans, storage drives, RAID/HBA, NICs, GPUs, and motherboards
- Execute rack-and-stack, cabling, and hardware configuration in data center environments
- Conduct firmware and BIOS upgrades using server management tools (e.g., Dell iDRAC)
- Perform both reactive break/fix and preventive maintenance following documented procedures
- Accurately document service activities, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions
- Communicate technical issues and status updates directly with customers and internal teams
- Escalate complex issues appropriately and participate in on-call rotations as needed

Required Skills and Experience

- 3+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise server or data center hardware
- Proven expertise in physically diagnosing, repairing, installing, and replacing server components
- Experience with rack-mounted servers in a data center or customer-facing environment
- Solid knowledge of server hardware architecture, diagnostics, and troubleshooting methodology
- Familiarity with BIOS/firmware updates and server management platforms
- Working knowledge of Linux or similar OS environments
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, lift up to 50 lbs., travel to customer sites, and support flexible/on-call schedules

Preferred Skills

- Direct experience supporting Dell PowerEdge server hardware
- Industry certifications (Dell, CompTIA, etc.)
- Proficiency with iDRAC, iLO, or similar server management tools
- Experience supporting GPU/AI server infrastructure
- Background in data center operations, rack/stack, and structured cabling
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
