Civil Estimator

Overview Herzog Energy, Inc. is currently seeking a Civil Estimator in the United States to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, scopes, and proposals for public and private utility-scale solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, supporting competitive bids and negotiated work. Duties And Responsibilities This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Work in a team environment and collaborate with other estimators, project managers, and construction personnel. Participate in job walks, pre-bid meetings, and site visits to gather project-specific information. Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop accurate and competitive estimates for solar civil construction activities. Perform quantity takeoffs for civil components including grading, excavation, drainage systems, access roads, foundations, underground utilities, and site improvements. Develop cost breakdowns and pricing models using historical data, supplier quotes, subcontractor proposals, and production rates. Support value engineering efforts and constructability reviews during the estimating and preconstruction process. Assist with estimate reviews, bid preparation, and project handoff activities. Estimate close-out Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. 3-5 years estimating or equivalent construction experience preferred. Experience estimating civil scopes for utility-scale solar, renewable energy, heavy civil, or site development projects preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Bluebeam, HCSS HeavyBid, or similar estimating software is a plus. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Communicate professionally to all parties both orally and in writing. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills. Must work well in a team environment. Approximately 30% travel required. Pre-Employment Requirements Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review. Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position. Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen. Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis. Physical Requirements Work primarily in an office environment. Frequently sits for extended periods of time. Frequently use a computer keyboard and office related equipment. Requires occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping or bending. Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position. Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
