Back End Software Engineer

This contractor will join the backend engineering team as a normal, active team member. The technical
designs and approach are already defined; this role is focused on implementation, delivery, and
production readiness of planned work.
Day-to-day collaboration will primarily be with the engineering team, with occasional interface points
with UI engineering, UX design, and Product to align on integration touchpoints and acceptance
criteria

Required Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent)
- 2+ years implementing backend services and APIs in production (language/framework flexible; Java
and similar stacks are welcome)
- 2+ years working with API integrations (e.g., REST and/or gRPC) and collaborating through code
review and CI workflows
- 2+ years experience working with common service components such as relational or NoSQL data
stores, caching, and/or messaging/eventing (exact mix can vary)
- Comfort operating in a team delivery environment: incremental shipping, ownership of tests, and clear
written communication


Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience implementing services that support multiple internal consumers (platform/service mindset)
- Experience contributing to phased migrations or service adoption rollouts
- Familiarity with observability practices (metrics, tracing/logging patterns) and operating services in
production
- Experience collaborating across backend and UI teams to support end-to-end feature delivery
