Registered Nurse RN Cardiovascular PCU

Position Overview Banner University Medical Center‑Phoenix’s Surgical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is seeking a full‑time Day Shift Registered Nurse. This role involves caring for a wide variety of surgical patients, including vascular, cardio‑thoracic surgical, heart transplant, and heart failure patients, with specialized interventions such as LVAD and TAH. The position requires 3 shifts per week from 7 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., with weekend and holiday coverage on a rotating basis. Compensation includes an 18 % night shift differential and a flat $3 per hour weekend shift differential. A $15 k sign‑on bonus is available subject to a 24‑month commitment. Core Functions Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history, exam, diagnostics, and laboratory data. Reports abnormal results and completes assessment/reassessment as required. Formulates a comprehensive plan of care, including discharge plan, based on assessment data and team input. Establishes realistic, measurable goals and revises the plan as patient needs change. Implements the plan through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health‑care team. Provides care in compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan as needed. Assesses progress toward goals and outcomes. Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record. Maintains legible, timely documentation consistent with policy. Provides evidence‑based care and may participate in research activities. Supports professional development through precepting and mentoring when appropriate. Contributes to patient outcomes through quality improvement activities and participation in professional organizations. May supervise staff and workflow in some roles. Interacts with all staff levels, external providers, and families, providing clear communication and supporting spiritual needs as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications Current or valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim/compact RN license). BLS certification required. Experience in an acute care setting within the past 12 months, with at least one year of experience in a critical or acute care specialty, is required. Additional certifications or continuing education may be required based on area of practice. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or related field) preferred. Professional certification (e.g., CCRN, SCRN) preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
