Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

Location: Rochester, NY 14626
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Evening | 1:00 PM–11:30 PM
Schedule: 4×10 hours
Local Candidates: Not Accepted
Traveler Candidates: Accepted
Distance Requirement: Candidate must reside more than 75 miles from the facility

Pay Rate:
Traveler: $45–$50/hr

Required Qualifications:

• 4+ years of CST experience preferred
• CST certification — Required , unless the traveler worked as a surgical tech in NY before 2015
• First-time travelers not accepted
• EPIC experience preferred
• Strong sterile technique, decontamination, and sterilization knowledge
• Strong knowledge of surgical counts, specimen handling, and sharps safety
• Experience with Universal Protocol/Time-Out procedures

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain operating rooms, instruments, supplies, and sterile fields
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently
• Perform surgical counts and specimen handling/labeling
• Maintain strict aseptic technique
• Assist with decontamination, sterilization, and equipment preparation
• Participate in Universal Protocol/Time-Out procedures
• Support multiple surgical service lines
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia, and OR staff
• Maintain infection-control and sharps-safety standards

Key Surgical Experience:

• General and laparoscopic procedures
• Bariatric surgery
• Vascular procedures, including AAA repair, carotid endarterectomy, and EVAR
• ENT procedures
• Orthopedic and spine procedures
• Neurosurgery
• Gynecological and urological procedures
• Colorectal and Da Vinci Xi robotic surgery
• Thoracic procedures
• Decontamination, sterilization, and aseptic technique
