Job Title

Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU

Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-hour shifts | Every other weekend required | Rotating holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Neuro ICU at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex neurological cases including strokes (with/without tPA), ventriculostomies, and post-craniectomy patients
• Titrate physician-ordered drips and manage arterial lines, central lines, and ventilators in accordance with physician orders
• Assess, read, and interpret telemetry strips using Philips monitors; a tele tech is staffed on every shift
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy staff on ventilator and respiratory equipment management, including troubleshooting as needed
• Apply NIH Stroke Scale assessment and acute stroke management protocols
• Float to lower-acuity units (intermediate or general floor) as staffing requires; travelers float first

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Hands-on experience with ventriculostomy, tPA administration, acute stroke management, ventilators, arterial lines, and central lines
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification required
• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Neuro ICU or high-acuity neurological care setting
• Familiarity with a wide range of titratable drips in an ICU environment
• Experience floating to intermediate or general medical-surgical units
