Key Responsibilities\n

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Conducting thorough assessments and screenings to understand each client’s substance abuse history and mental health status.

• Developing tailored treatment plans that address both addiction issues and co-occurring mental health disorders.

• Facilitating engaging individual and group therapy sessions, employing evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing.

• Providing education to clients and their families on addiction, recovery strategies, and ways to engage in the treatment process effectively.

Qualifications\n

To excel in this role, candidates must possess:

• A valid license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or LCSW-R.

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; a Master’s or Doctoral degree is preferred.

• Specialized training or experience in addiction counseling.

• Exceptional therapeutic skills with a demonstrated ability to motivate and engage clients effectively.

Preferred Experience\n

Although the minimum educational requirements are a Bachelor’s Degree, a Master’s Degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred. Experience in substance abuse counseling and familiarity with state and federal regulations regarding addiction treatment is an asset. Being knowledgeable about community resources in Newburgh will also enhance your ability to support clients in their recovery.
