Claims Specialist

AXIS Capital, a global specialty lines insurer and reinsurer, is hiring a Claims Specialist – Primary Casualty to join its North America Claim Team. The role focuses on managing primary claims for U.S. Primary Casualty policies. Key Responsibilities Assess and investigate claims to determine coverage, liability, and settlement value. Evaluate coverage and claim exposures, determine appropriate actions, and pursue claims to resolution. Set accurate and timely claim reserves; refer to the Claim Manager when necessary. Manage the claim life cycle from notification to closure, ensuring timely and accurate closure. Review relevant policies, validate coverage by analyzing wordings, and escalating issues for resolution. Draft coverage positions for review and approval by the Claim Manager. Work closely with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and brokers to maintain premier service and resolve issues. Requirements Recognized as a subject matter expert in claims within your area of specialization. Ability to interpret and apply policy provisions accurately across various claim scenarios. Skill to manage the complete life‑cycle of a claim with attention to detail. Capability to collaborate with external parties to gather information and resolve claims. Commitment to continuous professional development in claims management. Ability to implement strategies that improve claims handling efficiency and customer satisfaction. Proficiency in documenting claim activities and decisions comprehensively for audit support. Role Factors Requires office presence 3 days per week. Must adhere to AXIS licensing requirements. Compensation & Benefits Base salary range: $75,000 – $130,000, based on experience and location. Competitive target incentive compensation tied to overall and individual performance.
