Project AccountantLocation: Seymour, CT Compensation: $ 80,000-100,000Position OverviewOur client is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the financial management of multiple projects from start to finish. This role will be responsible for project billing, job costing, reconciliations, financial reporting, and working closely with project managers and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial information.Key ResponsibilitiesManage accounting activities for multiple projects, including tracking costs, revenue, and profitabilityPrepare and process customer invoices based on contracts, project milestones, and billing schedulesMonitor project budgets, expenditures, and variancesPerform account and project reconciliations and investigate discrepanciesReview purchase orders, vendor invoices, expenses, and other project-related transactionsPrepare monthly project financial reports and provide variance analysisAssist with month-end and year-end close activitiesMaintain accurate project records and supporting documentationPartner with Project Managers and Operations to resolve billing and accounting issuesTrack accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding project balances as neededAssist with audits and other financial reporting requestsIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reportingQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred2+ years of accounting experience, preferably with project accounting, job costing, construction, engineering, real estate, or a project-based environmentStrong understanding of general accounting principlesExperience with project billing, cost tracking, and reconciliationsProficiency with Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUPExperience with an ERP or accounting systemStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication and problem-solving skillsPreferred: Experience with construction/project accounting software, ERP implementations, or percentage-of-completion accounting.
