Behavioral Health Technician II

Job Summary The Behavioral Health Technician II provides patient care and supervision under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role includes therapeutic use of self, nursing process, environmental/instrumentation, and collaboration with other health care members. The technician serves as a safety champion, milieu manager, and preceptor for MHT I’s, functioning as a member of the therapeutic team within limits set by policy and procedure. Responsibilities You will provide care to and close supervision of our psychiatric patients. You will obtain and record initial and ongoing patient vital signs throughout the cycle of care. You will document and report any physical or behavioral changes at time of occurrence. You will actively participate as part of the treatment team, following facility policies and procedures. Qualifications High School Graduate or GED required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Demonstrated competency in BLS required and must be maintained upon hire. C.N.A. preferred. One year of inpatient psychiatric experience preferred. Medical terminology and clerical background preferred. Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date. Bachelor's Degree, or 10 years of work experience in lieu of degree.
