Behavioral Health Technician II

Job Summary The Behavioral Health Technician II provides patient care and supervision under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The role involves therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, environmental and instrumentation support, and collaboration with other health care members. This position acts as a safety champion, milieu manager, and preceptor for MHT I’s, and functions as a member of the therapeutic team within the limits designated by policies and procedures of the facility. Responsibilities Provide care to and close supervision of psychiatric patients. Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient vital signs throughout the cycle of care. Document and report any physical or behavioral changes at time of occurrence. Actively participate as part of the treatment team, following facility policies and procedures. Qualifications High School Graduate or GED required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Demonstrated competency in Basic Cardiac Life Support required upon hire and maintained thereafter. Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) preferred. Prefer one year of inpatient psychiatric experience. Medical terminology and clerical background preferred.
