We are looking for an Interpreter, ASL (American Sign Language) to join our Deaf and Hard of Hearing Team as we continue to grow the business. Interpreter, ASL (American Sign Language) The Interpreter: ASL provides American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, transliteration and sight translation communication access either consecutively or simultaneously to appointed Deaf or Hard of Hearing and associated clientele. Status: Full-time Location: Houston, TX ( In-Office ) or Dallas, TX ( must be available to work in-person ) Roles and Responsibilities Adhere to NAD/RID Code of Professional Conduct Adhere to and follow all MasterWord ISO required processes in reporting, escalation and documentation. Adhere to the MasterWord Communication Plan for all internal and external communications. Attend scheduled division specific events when applicable. Provide effective communication interpretation services to members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community both in-person and remotely in diverse industry settings. Support the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Department with internal interpretation needs for Deaf/HH staff, operational needs, and other duties for the division as assigned. Provide observational feedback on operational or service adjustments that may be needed such as the recommendation for a Certified or Qualified Deaf Interpreter Demonstrate MasterWord’s core values at all times in conjunction with any MasterWord performed duty or responsibility. Other duties as assigned, record and file retention, and other related general office duties. Backup receptionist and administrative assistant duties as required. Other duties may be assigned. Required Qualifications Associate’s degree or higher is preferred or five (5) years of compensated interpreting experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Broad Knowledge of Deaf culture, the ASL interpreting field, basic linguistics, and medical terminology in American Sign Language and English. Progressive experience in medical interpretation settings working within diverse organizations and multi-cultural environments. Must be willing to work occasional extensive hours to meet possible client needs and provide after-hours on call support on a scheduled rotating basis. Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
