Research Project Assistant

Research Project Assistant – Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, Rutgers University – works on grant‑funded research focused on social disconnection and suicide risk among older adults in the Psychopathology and Interpersonal Functioning Lab (directed by Dr. Nicole Cain). Responsibilities Recruit, screen, schedule, and consent participants. Organise and oversee data collection, entry, and management. Maintain all study protocols and ensure participant compliance with smartphone‑based real‑time monitoring. Prepare IRB applications, renewals, and amendments. Serve as liaison for study staff, train volunteers, and coordinate student support for daily research tasks. Conduct literature searches and gather evidence‑based data to support manuscripts, grants, and conference presentations. Receive training in interpersonal theory and suicidology. Perform participant recruitment and retention, data management, and general research administration. Assist in preparing grants, manuscripts, and IRB protocols. Qualifications Minimum Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Previous experience working in psychology research. Proficiency with word processing, Excel, Qualtrics, and data analytic programs such as SPSS, R, or SAS. Preferred Master’s degree in psychology or related field. Experience developing and maintaining research databases (e.g., Excel, Qualtrics). Experience interacting with diverse populations and strong communication skills. Strong organization and time‑management skills. Additional familiarity with MPlus or other advanced analytic software.
