Research Associate (Tischfield Lab)

Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated research associate (non‑tenure track) to join the Max Tischfield Lab at Rutgers University. The research focuses on two key areas: (1) the circuit mechanisms and neuropathogenesis of Tourette syndrome and related neuropsychiatric disorders (OCD, ADHD, ASD) using genetic mouse models; and (2) the development and function of brain waste‑clearance systems, particularly the integration of meningeal lymphatic vessels with the glymphatic system and how these processes are altered in disease. Responsibilities Design and conduct experiments to explore the molecular and cellular bases of Tourette syndrome and related conditions. Investigate brain waste‑clearance pathways, including meningeal lymphatics and the glymphatic system, and their roles in neuroinflammation and cognitive decline. Perform mouse genetics, histology, stereotaxic injections, electrophysiology, optogenetics, behavioral assays, in‑vivo imaging, and computer‑vision analyses. Generate and interpret data, collaborate with a multi‑PI team, and prepare manuscripts for peer‑reviewed publication. Qualifications Ph.D. in neurobiology or a related field with one or more first‑author publications in peer‑reviewed journals. Strong communication skills and a self‑driven, creative, and collaborative work style. Proven experience with mouse genetics, histology, stereotaxic brain injections, electrophysiology, optogenetics, and/or mouse behavioral assays. Experience with scripting and coding is a plus. Willingness and experience working with mice.
