Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Research Assistant for the department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the assistant will support the daily operations and scientific infrastructure of a newly established systems neuroscience laboratory, perform independent research, contribute to maintenance of lab supplies and equipment, assist with laboratory set up, website design, and maintenance of shared computational analysis pipelines, and help to order and maintain supplies in the lab. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Assists with day‑to‑day laboratory operations, including maintaining lab organization, managing shared spaces, and ensuring efficient laboratory workflows. Manages procurement activities including identifying vendors, placing orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment. Responsible for submitting purchase recommendations to supervisor. Keeps detailed records of experiments, designs and maintains lab website, and develops lab analysis pipelines. Position Details Type: Per Diem Working Hours: 15 hours per week Standard Hours: 40.00 Daily Work Shift: Day Work Arrangement: Fully on‑site Union: Health Care Prof Per Diem Terms of Appointment: Temporary Staff Appointment - Hourly Compensation Hourly Rate: $17.00 Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience: Currently enrolled in a degree program or satisfactory completion of an undergraduate/graduate degree. Experience in laboratory research, including experimental setup, equipment maintenance, and data acquisition. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must be able to follow detailed laboratory instructions. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with programming, website management, and computational analysis pipelines is preferred.
