Kitson & Partners is seeking a Senior Accountant – Commercial to join our Palm Beach Gardens, FL Office. In this role, you will work closely with our accounting and operational staff to ensure the proper accounting of all financial transactions across various business entities while maintaining accurate records and strong internal controls. MUST HAVE COMMERCIAL RETAIL (SHOPPING CENTERS) BACKGROUNDEssential Duties and responsibilitiesFinancial Closings: Lead the monthly closing for assigned commercial entities within a strict 5-business-day window. Reconciliations: Prepare cash reconciliations, annual CAM reconciliations, and complex balance sheet accounts (debt, prepaid expenses, AR, swaps, etc.). Fixed Assets & WIP: Post and reconcile fixed asset and Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounts; maintain monthly roll-forwards and depreciation schedules. Job Costing & Development: Reconcile job costs to the General Ledger, ensure proper coding, post development entries, and track monthly invoice accruals. Project Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with Project Managers to update job cost forecasts, estimates for completion, and the timing of cash outlays. Reporting & Analysis: Document monthly variance reporting (budget-to-actual and period-to-period) and assist with monthly financial statements and cash flows. Compliance: Ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions in strict compliance with US GAAP and internal controls; support annual audit requirements. Other duties as assigned Education & SkillsEducation: Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of related accounting experience; experience in construction or land development is highly preferred. Technical Skills: Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office. Experience with Yardi is a major plus; experience with a large ERP package (Sage, NetSuite, Great Plains, etc.) is required. Knowledge: A broad and strong understanding of US GAAP reporting and application. Attributes: A self-starter and proactive problem-solver who can work independently, multitask, and manage tight deadlines with minimal supervision. Strong analytical, time management, and communication skills are essential.
