Regions Business Capital Underwriter

Job Description Regions Business Capital Underwriter is a client‑facing role responsible for conducting and evaluating new corporate and commercial loans. The candidate works with Origination, Credit Risk, Client Coverage, Capital Markets and other banking functions to lead credit analysis and underwriting, balancing risk tolerance with business objectives and client retention. Primary Responsibilities Lead the credit process to ensure transactions are reviewed thoroughly, in a timely manner, and adhere to internal policies. Conduct independent assessments of borrower risk profile, financial performance, collateral strength, industry position and overall creditworthiness. Balance risk tolerance with business objectives and client acquisition. Collaborate with Origination to structure proposed transactions. Screen new opportunities and underwrite asset‑based loans, ensuring a positive customer experience. Identify risks and mitigants relative to transaction size and complexity. Own the underwriting process for expeditious execution of new business transactions in line with client expectations and guidelines. Act as the central hub with Origination and Credit Risk. Maintain strong working relationships with key internal partners. Prepare comprehensive memos and models analyzing financial performance, collateral quality, borrowing base structure, industry characteristics, and credit attributes. Present findings and recommendations to Senior Management and the Credit Committee. Engage in loan documentation and closing activities with borrower, counsel, and relationship management. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field. Nine (9) years underwriting and/or portfolio management experience. Skills and Competencies Ability to manage execution of multiple complex transactions simultaneously. Ability to openly exchange ideas, elevate concerns, and follow defined policies and procedures. Ability to develop working relationships with prospective borrowers and key referral sources and communicate at all levels. Deep understanding of loan structuring, financial analysis, collateral analysis, legal documentation, and industry considerations affecting transactions, including ABL lending. Exercise independent judgment and apply prudent risk mitigation principles. Extensive track record of underwriting, risk management, and relationship management, and closing loans. Position Type Full time Incentive Eligibility This position is incentive eligible. Compensation Target salary ranges: Minimum $171,256.47 USD, Median $211,039.50 USD. Eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and Long Term Incentive Plan.
