Construction Engineers/Assistant Resident Engineers

Construction Engineers, Assistant Resident Engineers AMC Consulting Engineers, Inc. specializes in design and construction of transportation infrastructures. We are seeking highly-motivated Construction Engineers to observe and record the day-to‑day activities of the contractors on various roadway and bridge projects in Central and Northern California. The individual shall have extensive knowledge of construction practices, physical characteristics and properties of roadway, structures, drainage and utility systems construction materials, and the approved methods and equipment used in making physical tests of construction materials. Responsibilities Perform quality assurance inspections to achieve compliance with contract plans and specifications on all phases of highway and bridge construction, such as paving, structures, striping, grading, SWPPP, drainage, sewer, water, utility relocations, electrical installation, sign installation and landscaping items. Maintain an awareness of safety and health requirements and assuring compliance of applicable regulations and contract provisions for the protection of the public and construction project personnel. Inspecting and approving traffic control systems including lane closures in accordance with CALTRANS standards and requirements. Prepare detailed daily inspection reports and photographs (DIRs). Perform quantity calculations and measurement for progress pay estimates and keep daily records. Perform calculations and measurement of contract unit price bid items. Maintain continuous communication with the Resident Engineer and other field personnel and staff. Keep the Resident Engineer informed of conditions which could result in contract change orders and/or delays and assist in proactively resolving these situations. Assist in business development activities. Requirements B.S. in Civil Engineering preferred Professional Engineering Registration in the State of California preferred Experience with CALTRANS practices and procedures 10+ years of field inspection and quality assurance experience required Minimum 5 years experience in CALTRANS roadway/bridge construction projects Ability to work independently and perform duties in the construction field office Proficient in the use of computer application programs Word and Excel Please send your resume to: AMC Consulting Engineers, Inc.
