Details 6900 GI/GU unit at a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level I Trauma Center hospital Patient population includes ostomy, colon resection, colon cancer, bladder cancer, GU, and medical overflow cases on a high turnover surgical unit Patient ratios of 1:4-6 Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM) Every other weekend required No on-call responsibilities Floating required within service line Centralized telemetry monitoring with basic tele knowledge preferred Common drips administered include Heparin, Lidocaine (pain only), Bicarb, Bivalirudin, and occasionally stable non-titrated Amiodarone Unit also manages PCAs, epidurals, and CBIs with various irrigation solutions Special procedures include foley catheters, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), TURPs, and colorectal patient protocols Epic EMR used for charting Requirements Active MO RN license or compact license required (compact must match permanent residence) BLS and ACLS certifications required BSN preferred Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Epic EMR experience required Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias Skills required: IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs Skills required: colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube care and management Skills required: continuous bladder irrigation (CBI) management Skills required: administration of Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications Skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, remote telemetry monitoring Must have facial hair that allows for proper respirator fit testing or be willing to shave Additional Information Provide excellent patient care with strong documentation skills and a team-oriented approach Navy scrub color required First-time travelers not accepted for this position Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted Standard travelers may stay for an 18-month period and must take a 3-month break in service afterward Permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler RTO limited to no more than 7 days per contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment Block scheduling is not accommodated American Traveler Job ID P-745945.
