Senior Patient Services Specialist - Gyn Oncology

Job Summary The Senior Patient Services Specialist supports clinic coordination of multiple patient care services and patient orientation at the Swedish Cancer Institute across multiple campuses. The role requires independence in planning and executing a wide spectrum of clerical duties with a focus on patient care, communication, and problem‑solving. The specialist provides professional liaison to patients, families, departments, and third‑party payers, while maintaining accurate medical records, insurance verifications, referrals, authorizations, billing reconciliation, phone triage, and orientation of new staff. This work is performed under a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment, with a customer‑service approach (AIDET Level II) to optimize the oncology patient experience. Responsibilities Schedule new patients, follow‑up clinic appointments, and subsequent treatments or diagnostic tests. Acquire insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations as requested. Prepare and maintain patient medical records and reconcile billing issues. Answer multiple phone lines, triage phone calls, and provide professional liaison to patients, families and other departments. Serve as an informational resource regarding oncology support services available at the Swedish Cancer Institute. Orient and train new staff and partner in new staff onboarding. Perform additional special project assignments as directed. Complete all duties in a timely, accurate manner while maintaining an exceptional customer‑service approach. Required Qualifications Completion of oncology administrative training within six months. Medical Terminology Certification or completion of a Medical Terminology course within 180 days of hire. One year of healthcare experience preferred (e.g., physician office, scheduler). Experience obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree with an emphasis in health care or equivalent education/experience. Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school with emphasis in healthcare. Compensation and Benefits Base pay range for this position is $29.56–$44.46 per hour. Additional compensation may be available, including shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
