About the City Fayetteville, GA is a small‑town community located approximately 20 miles south of Atlanta. It is known for its highly regarded schools, low crime rates, and overall high quality of life. Position Overview The City of Fayetteville seeks an experienced Deputy Public Services Director (also referred to as Director of Community Development) to guide the city’s growth, development, and long‑term planning. The role collaborates with city staff, elected officials, and community stakeholders to advance the City’s strategic plan. Responsibilities Oversee planning and development activities for the City, including zoning, land use, and transportation. Lead the development and implementation of the City’s long‑term growth plan. Coordinate with elected officials, community groups, and external partners to support sustainable development initiatives. Provide technical leadership on public works, infrastructure, and real‑estate projects. Advise City Council and managers on policy, zoning amendments, and planning submissions. Qualifications Professional experience in urban design and planning. Strong communicator and stakeholder collaborator. Knowledgeable in zoning law and state procedures. Demonstrated leadership and team‑development skills. Ethical leader committed to professional development. Related college degree or equivalent experience.
