Emergency Medicine Physician — O*NET Occupation Study (Train AI Models Part Time!)

**About this study**

Mercor is building a new, more accurate version of O\*NET — the U.S. government's framework for describing occupations and the tasks they involve. We are gathering input directly from experienced practitioners to improve how the work of emergency medicine physicians is described.

**About the role (SOC 29-1214.00 — Emergency Medicine Physicians)**

Make immediate medical decisions and act to prevent death or further disability. Provide immediate recognition, evaluation, care, stabilization, and disposition of patients. May direct emergency medical staff in an emergency department.

**What you'll do**

- Complete a one-time online survey/interview about your day-to-day work as an emergency medicine physician. It takes **up to 30 minutes**.

- There may be an optional follow-up survey, task, or short interview afterward, which would be paid separately.

**Who we're looking for (eligible applicants have)**

- **4+ years of experience practicing emergency medicine.**

- **Current work, or work within the last 12 months, in the role.**

- **Direct knowledge of triage, clinical decision-making, and patient stabilization tasks.**

- **U.S.-based.**

**Not eligible (common confounders)**

- EMTs and paramedics (SOC 29-2042.00, 29-2043.00).

- Nurse practitioners or physician assistants working in the emergency department (SOC 29-1171.00 and related PA occupations).

- Registered nurses, including ER nurses.

- Urgent care physicians whose practice is not based in an emergency department.

- Physicians in other specialties (family medicine, internal medicine, hospitalists) who do not practice emergency medicine.

- Residents and fellows not yet practicing independently.

- Surgeons, all other (SOC 29-1249.00).
