Job Summary (List Format) - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

- Certification Required: CST certification (or equivalent if worked as tech in NY prior to 2015)
- Experience Required: Minimum 3 years of recent surgical tech experience
- Unit Details: 12 service lines; does not accept first-time travelers; must live more than 75 miles from facility
- Call Requirement: Yes, 6 shifts per 8-week block, including weekends and holidays
- Weekend Requirement: 6 shifts per 8-week block, including weekends and holidays
- Scrubs: Provided by facility
- EMR: Epic experience preferred

Core Responsibilities:
- Assist in a wide range of surgical procedures including:
- General OR cases
- Bariatric surgeries (gastric bypass, sleeve, lap band)
- Vascular surgeries (aortic aneurysm, carotid endarterectomy, endovascular repairs, femoral popliteal bypass)
- ENT procedures (laryngoscopy, neck dissection, tonsillectomy, tracheostomy)
- Gastrointestinal surgeries (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair)
- Breast surgeries (mastectomy, tram flap reconstruction)
- Endocrine surgeries (thyroidectomy)
- Gynecological procedures (tubal ligation, cervical cerclage, D&C, anterior/posterior repair)
- Orthopedic surgeries (hip/knee replacement, carpal tunnel, fracture reductions, bunionectomy, metatarsal surgery)
- Neurosurgical procedures (craniotomy, laminectomy, discectomy, spinal fusion, VP shunt insertion, XLIF)
- Robotic and minimally invasive surgeries (Da Vinci Xi, VATS, laparoscopic-assisted cases)
- Urological procedures (nephrectomy, prostatectomy, TURP, lithotripsy, ureteroscopy)
- Thoracic procedures (mediastinoscopy)
- Colorectal robotic surgery

Technical Skills:
- Operate and assist with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System and other laparoscopic/robotic platforms
- Proficient in aseptic technique and surgical protocols
- Knowledge of decontamination and sterilization processes and indicators
- Proper sharps safety and specimen handling/labeling
- Adherence to Universal Protocol (Time Out) procedures

Other Requirements:
- Previous management/lead experience preferred
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including on-call, weekends, and holidays
