Job Details Primary City/State: Sun City, Arizona Department Name: Banner Staffing Services-AZ Work Shift: Day Job Category: Nursing Unit Description Banner Boswell Ortho PCU is a combined acute care specialty unit serving both Progressive Care and Medical Surgical patients as part of the Progress in Place initiative. 5A/5B is a 41‑bed unit specializing in the care of post‑operative orthopedic patients, including pre‑ and post‑operative surgical care for a wide range of orthopedic cases such as total joint replacements and fractures. As an RN on this unit, you will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. 5D is a 20‑bed orthopedics and GI post‑surgical unit focused on the care of postoperative gastrointestinal surgeries. This unit specializes in GI patient care, including pre‑ and post‑operative surgical care for a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders and general medical/surgical overflow. As an RN on our unit, you will work with an efficient, engaged team focused on positive patient outcomes, collaboration, hourly rounding, prompt call‑light response, and a culture of clean, quiet, and teamwork. This is a unique assignment‑based PRN position; you will be dedicated to only one unit. Day shift openings are from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a minimum of two shifts per month, specific to this unit. The position offers an 18% night differential and an additional flat rate weekend differential of $3/hour when applicable. Position Summary This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies, standards of professional nursing practice, and the framework for nursing practice and development. The RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by themselves and by others under their direction. The RN utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data and plan appropriate care based on the physical, developmental, and cultural needs of assigned patients. Core Functions Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians. Formulate, initiate, and revise a patient‑specific plan of care, including realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Implement plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health‑care team, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan as needed. Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a legible, timely manner. Provide evidence‑based care, participate in research activities, shared leadership, education, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, and families. Contribute to professional development, quality improvement activities, and participation in professional organizations. Supervise staff and workflow when appropriate, and interact with staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts across departments to communicate patient status. Minimum Qualifications Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, or a temporary/interim/compact RN licensure for the state of practice. BLS certification required; ACLS required upon hire. Minimum 18 months RN work experience. Minimum 12 months recent work experience on a Progressive Care Unit within the last year and a half. Experience in an acute‑care specialist setting within the past 12 months. For home‑health roles, ability to operate a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver's license, plus active auto insurance coverage. For behavioral health roles, possession of required fingerprint clearance cards and criminal history affidavits as specified by state and facility. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred; professional nursing certification preferred.
