Exciting Opportunity for Med Surg Oncology RN Travelers!

Job Description:


- Position: Med Surg Oncology RN
- Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (18:45 - 07:15)
- Contract Length: 13-26 weeks
- Call Requirement: Yes, could be called off on a prescheduled shift
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating Requirement: Required to similar units and alternate care locations
- Patient Ratios: 1:6

Key Responsibilities:


- Care for patients receiving chemotherapy and biotherapy
- Monitor and manage general medical-surgical diagnoses
- Administer IV, PO, or injectable chemotherapy
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and interventions
- Participate in patient education and support regarding chemotherapy

Required Certifications / Experience:


- BLS certification required
- ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration preferred (willing to obtain prior to or during assignment)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an inpatient setting
- Experience in Med/Surg, including:
- Colostomy care
- Accessing ports
- Blood product administration
- Central line blood draw
- Peripheral line care/management

Unit Details:


- Daily Census: 42
- Patient Diagnoses include:
- AKI, Sepsis, Cancer, Septic shock, Pain, OD
- Malignant Neoplasms, ARF, Encephalopathy, FTT, Diabetic foot ulcers
- Utilize PYXIS, EPIC, & SBAR for medication, documentation, and communication

Training and Support:


- Onsite training provided for those completing the oncology certification
- Supportive team environment to ensure you feel confident in patient care
- Access to a variety of oncology and chemotherapy educational courses

Important Notes:


- Attendance to monthly staff meetings is required
- Must complete EKG Testing prior to start
- Candidates must be flexible to float as needed within the facility
