Job Title: Research Coordinator III - Surgery Division: Surgery Work Arrangement: Onsite only Location: Houston, TX Salary Range: $57,320 - $67,435 FLSA Status: Exempt Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Summary The Office of Surgical Research (OSR) within the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery and in Collaboration with CTSU Oncology department within the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center (DLDCCC) has an immediate opening for a Clinical Research Coordinator III with the Breast Surgery Team. This position provides with day to day activities of clinical trials in the area of breast cancer. Many of these duties will include monitoring of research participants, enrollment, and screening. Responsibilities require flexibility and detail oriented individual to work closely with senior research staff. Performs patient screening, blood draws, plans and schedules study visits, does reporting for IRBS, FDA, and Data Safety Review Committee. Job Duties Coordinate clinical research activities alongside patient care by collaborating with physicians across specialties, clinic staff, and hospital teams to ensure studies are conducted in compliance with protocol requirements and Good Clinical Practice standards, while minimizing disruptions to routine care and unnecessary clinic visits (20%) Evaluate, document, and grade adverse events in collaboration with physicians and care teams in accordance with NCI guidelines; report events to study sponsors as required and communicate necessary care or treatment adjustments (e.g., dose modifications, delays, supportive care) to the appropriate providers (20%) Maintain thorough knowledge of multiple study protocols to effectively screen participants, confirm eligibility, and coordinate required tests and procedures without delaying treatment initiation (10%) Serve as lead coordinator for up to four clinical trial protocols, managing patient screening, enrollment, and follow-up throughout the study lifecycle, while also providing cross-coverage support for other research team members as needed (10%) Balance strict adherence to research protocols and timelines with the urgency and priorities of patient care in a fast-paced, NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center within an academic health system (10%) Manage complex scheduling challenges, including conflicts between departments, clinic cancellations due to external factors, and resulting impacts on treatment timelines, assessments, and study compliance (10%) Act as the primary point of contact for clinical trial participants, assessing reported symptoms in collaboration with physicians to determine their cause, appropriately escalating concerns, and evaluating their impact on study participation and conduct (15%) Conduct study-related activities across Harris Health System and other affiliated hospitals as required, and perform additional duties as assigned (5%) Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement. Two years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in oncology clinical research is preferred. Proficiency in REDCap and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Bilingual skills in Spanish are a plus.
