Director of Procurement
Leeward Energy
LRE (Leeward Renewable Energy) is forging an American energy future with integrity, innovation, and positive impact. Born in Texas in 2003, we own and operate over 30 utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects in local communities across the United States, totaling 4 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity. LRE continues to help meet increased U.S. energy demand through our robust pipeline of new projects every year. Domestic jobs and manufacturing are fundamental to our full-lifecycle approach to projects, along with a long‑term ownership model and a company culture dedicated to our community partners and protecting the natural environment. Job Summary The Director of Procurement (M5) is responsible for leading and executing LRE's procurement strategy across four core areas: (i) supporting execution projects through the structuring, negotiation, and administration of major equipment supply agreements and EPC contracts; (ii) supporting the Company's growing operating fleet through disciplined, cost‑effective purchasing and vendor management; (iii) overseeing corporate procurement to drive cost savings through vendor consolidation, strategic sourcing, and negotiated rate structures; and (iv) managing approximately $1.5 billion of Owner Supplied Equipment, including allocation to projects, drawdown planning, and disposition through third‑party sales of equipment not designated for use. This role will build, lead, and optimize a high‑performing procurement organization, including developing existing team members, and will work closely with Pre‑Construction and Project Management and Operations teams to align equipment strategy with project design, schedule, costs, and logistics. The Director will also lead the development and implementation of enhanced procurement processes and controls to ensure commercial integrity, risk management, and consistent execution across the enterprise. This position manages the procurement function for all Leeward business units. Essential Functions Develop and maintain contacts and relationships with major equipment manufacturers and service suppliers including but not limited to PV Modules, Wind Turbine, BESS, High Voltage Equipment and EPC Contractors to best position LRE amongst a competitive landscape. Support Pre‑Construction and Legal teams to develop and maintain contacts and relationships with EPC Contractors in the renewable energy industry. Support Operations through timely and quality contracting for 30+ operating renewable facilities using Maximo to manage key work and inventory levels. Negotiate and maintain Corporate contracts in alignment with department stakeholders. Ensure competitive bids are obtained for purchase of capital equipment as well as service contracts and assure the pricing is consistent with established project budgets. Direct the development and implementation of a corporate process for measuring vendors and contractors’ performance and monitoring risk exposure to the Company. Coordinate with LRE Legal teams to direct the development and implementation of a consistent standard for 'Contract Terms and Conditions' that includes meaningful penalties and liquidated damages for all procurement and construction contracts to assure timely and quality performance by contractors. Ensure all project contracts meet or exceed the required design, schedule, cost, compliance and safety requirements with appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Coordinate with Legal and Strategy teams to procure and manage assets in alignment with Company strategic initiatives related to Safe Harbor, IRA and PWA compliance. Coordinate with Finance & Treasury for spend and cashflow forecasting. Lead the development of LRE Supplier Code of Conduct and ensure compliance is tracked and measured in partnership with cross department key stakeholders. Maintain understanding of the market including current pricing, commodity risks, and key terms and conditions provisions. Manage and report market trends, asset value, lead times and commodities quarterly. Qualifications BS degree from an accredited university; an advanced degree is desirable. Minimum of ten (10+) years in procurement and contract negotiations applicable to the construction of power generation facilities and/or transmission or electrical systems, including a minimum of five (5) years procurement experience applicable to renewables, or related field, and two (2) years in a leadership role. Demonstrated commercial acumen alongside knowledge of equipment and service supply contracts for major infrastructure projects and inherent contractual risks. Capable of working and interacting harmoniously with various internal functional groups and individuals and maintaining effective communication throughout the organization. Successful record of dealing with and interacting with external contractors, vendors and project stakeholders. Demonstrable sense of urgency when faced with important procurement issues that impact the schedule and budgets of renewable projects. Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast‑paced business environment. Ability to travel as required to meet with service providers and counterparties.
