Lead Licensed Practical Nurse - General Internal Medicine and Pediatrics

Provide skilled nursing services to patients under the direction of a medical doctor or midlevel provider Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment Administer nursing procedures including sterile dressings, soaks, compresses, enemas, suppositories, oxygen therapy, catheterization, diabetic care, and pre- and post-operative care Lead the day-to-day work and productivity of patient care staff Advise and assist staff with patient/customer issue resolution Assist the supervisor with employee time-off scheduling and daily work assignments Address clinic operations issues May act as a clinical preceptor Support hiring, training, employee engagement, performance management, service and operational improvement, management expectations, and scheduling Requirements Degree in Practical Nursing Current Ohio Licensed Practical Nurse license CPR certification Knowledge of sterile technique Minimum 2 years of experience as an LPN with OSUP, or equivalent experience at OSU within the last year Prior experience working in a preceptor designation preferred Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards Knowledge of procedures and standards for administering medications and patient care aids Ability to convey information in writing and verbally High interpersonal skills for handling sensitive and confidential situations Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy Analytical ability to gather and interpret data and develop, recommend, and implement solutions Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in providing skilled nursing services, including sterile techniques and patient care procedures, while effectively leading and managing patient care staff. Strong ability to maintain quality and safety standards, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and staff interactions.
