Statewide nonprofit association seeks a Director of Member Services.

The position works with local government entities by providing educational programming and representation for Townships across Illinois.  Provides information, assistance and educational programs for elected officials and their staff.  Promotes a better understanding of the vital role local governments play and promotes improvements in laws governing local government. 

Position Summary

The Director of Member Services (DMS) reports directly to the Executive Director and manages all programs, services, educational programs, and social media for the association.  The DMS responds to member inquiries, directs programs and activities through providing educational programs for association members and guests.  This leadership position requires an understanding of local government / township government and association management as well as a commitment to advocating for local government in Illinois.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic leadership: Works with the Executive Director, Meeting and Exhibit Planners to develop long range plans for educational programs and services.
• Manages committee meetings and relevant coordination of programs and services for association objectives.
• Serves as a primary contact for members with questions on their responsibilities as a township official
• Annual Conference Manager.

Programs and Service

• Build a team of committee members to assist in development and executing the annual educational conference of the association.
• Organize and implement the Educational District Program for the Association
• Strengthen member engagement by ensuring members’ needs are met
• Manage all social media for the association
• Provides a report to the Board of Directors at the quarterly meetings.

Advocacy and Association Leadership:

• Contribute to the favorable image of the association in Illinois among local government, government officials and the public.
• Attend meetings at the direction of the Executive Director or functions representing the association. 
• Build positive relationships with stakeholders and other industry partners.
• Speak on occasion at events representing the Association.

Operations:

• Support the Board of Directors of the association where needed as directed by the Executive Director.
• ·Organize meeting agendas, committee meetings and other events as requested by the Executive Director.
• Primary initial contact for all membership inquiries.
• Manage Education Program including, but not limited to, agenda generation, speaker confirmation and event administration.
• Manage the Education Programs (all) provided by the association.
• Manage all webinar programs provided by the association.
• Provide monthly article submissions to the organization’s magazine
• Manage (primary contact) the annual educational conference provided by the association.
• Manage the associations website and social media.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Proven experience in association management with an emphasis on local government
• Demonstrated success in association management, organizational development or public administration.
• Demonstrated success in member engagement and program administration.

Desired Skills:

• High level of professionalism and commitment to the mission of the Association.
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to represent the organization effectively at all levels.
• The ability to build consensus, inspire members and the goals and objectives of the association.
• Understanding social media and how to manage the Association’s inclusion on various outlets.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to speak at various association events.

Work Environment:

The position is full-time located in Springfield Illinois.  Remote work is not an option .  Some travel is required.
