About the Position

Job Title: Travel RN - Orthopedic Surgery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Orthopedic Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Must have a valid state nursing license Certifications: BLS (AHA approved) Must-Have: - Orthopedic experience - Advanced skills in IV starts, Foley insertion, dressing changes, NG tube insertions Description: This is a travel RN position in the Orthopedic Surgery unit. The unit typically has 18 beds with patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6. In surge situations, the ratio may adjust to 1:7. Staffing includes a shared secretary and one to one and a half certified nursing assistants depending on patient volume. Equipment used includes vital signs monitors, remote telemonitoring, bladder scanners, vein finders, dopplers, SCDs, Alaris pumps, wound vacs, and On Q pumps. Documentation is through a Meditech system. Expect to work 12-hour shifts with weekend commitments. Floating is required to other medical units and may include modified assignments with no drips in the Progressive Care Unit. Patient experience focuses on timely answering of call lights and bedside reporting. Purposeful hourly rounding is standard practice.
