About the Position

Job Title: Travel RN - Orthopedic Surgery Profession: RN Specialty: Orthopedic Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 18:45 - 07:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active Florida RN License Certifications: BLS (AHA approved) Must-Have: Orthopedic experience Description: Position is for a travel RN in orthopedic surgery. Unit has 18 beds with patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6. When surging to decompress ER, the ratio may reach 1:7, though this is not typical. Shared secretary and 1 to 1.5 C.N.A available based on volume. Equipment includes vital signs monitor, remote telemonitoring, bladder scanner, vein finder, dopplers, SCDs, Alaris pumps, wound vacs, and On Q pump. Documentation system used is Meditech. Scheduling requires 12-hour shifts, three shifts per week, with weekend commitments. Floating policy includes other medical units, with modified assignments when floating to PCU. Patient experience focuses on timely responses to call lights and bedside reporting in patient rooms, along with purposeful hourly rounding. Advanced skills needed include IV starts, Foley insertion, dressing changes, and NG tube insertions. Dress code consists of pewter or white tops and bottoms.
