Direct Support Professional - Personal Support Counselor

We are looking for Personal Support Service Counselors to provide one-on-one mentorship and daily living support to young adults in Prince George's and Montgomery County. What You'll Do:

• Be a Community Guide: Plan and participate in fun, meaningful and integrated community activities.
• Life Skills Coach: Provide hands-on help with money management, literacy, health & wellness, and household tasks like meal prep.
• Support Independence: Help individuals transition from "Day Program" to active, engaged evening and weekend routines.
• Reliable Transit: ( Hyattsville / Rockville / Lanham) Ensure safe pickup and transport from programs to home or activities. Mileage Reimbursement at federal rate!

What We Require:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Must possess a valid driver’s license with no more than 3 points and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
• Must have proof of car insurance.
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with adults diagnosed with varying intellectual disabilities and or developmental disabilities.
• Must be able to work individually as well as within a team. Must be able to multi-task.
• Must be able to work with “high-risk” consumers who have mental illnesses as well as development or intellectual disabilities as well as physical.

• Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with other staff and individuals served.

Qualifications:

• Compassionate and caring nature
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities (preferred).
• Ability to pass background checks and FBI fingerprinting.

  • Hyattsville (Support for 36y.o. Female): * Schedule: Mon–Fri (4pm–8pm) & Sun (10am–4pm).
    • Focus: Transportation from Silver Spring, community outing, money management, health &fitness and teaching home skills (specifically cooking!).
  • Rockville (Support for 21y.o. Male): * Schedule: Mon–Fri (2:30pm–8pm) & Sat (10am–5pm).
    • Focus: Transportation from Silver Spring, community outings, literacy, money management, health & fitness, and attending weekly therapy sessions.
  • Lanham (Support for 21y.o. Twin Males): * Schedule: Mon–Fri (3pm–8pm).
    • Focus: Transportation from Silver Spring, social integration, and building independent living habits, accompanying to local gym.
• Hourly Rate Range: $20.00 - $20.75
