Job Title:   Forklift Operator

Location:  Constantine, MI

Duration:  Contract – 5 months.

Schedule : 8 hours day shift 40 hours per week.

Job Description

• Work with great people in a safe and fast-paced environment.
• Operates forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials in warehouse area.
• Follows regulatory requirements.
• May require certification.
• May use technology (PCs, scanners, etc.) to complete job tasks.

• Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with others
• Self-starting with high focus on Safety and Quality
• Mechanical ability/aptitude/awareness - helpful
• Awareness of working around machinery – helpful
• Experience/knowledge of shift work expectations
• Ability to work as part of a team to accomplish set goals
• Forklift driving experience – highly preferred
• Warehouse experience – highly preferred
• Prior forklift certification – preferred
• Ability to count accurately when moving inventory
• Ability to read scales
• Ability to multi-task and detailed oriented
• Being alert and aware when driving the forklift in a safe manner
• Ability to work in tighter, confined spaces with a forklift

 

Equipment/Attire Requirement:

• Steel-toe over the ankle work boot (worker responsibility)
• Hi-Visibility hard hat (provided)
• General purpose gloves (provided)
• Hi-Visibility safety vest (provided)
• Safety eyewear (provided)
• Long pants of durable material (jeans preferred)
• Shirt with sleeves, minimum to cover shoulder (no loose clothing)

 

Duties are as follows but not limited to:

• Professional, accident-free operation of the forklift, and the precise keeping of the forklift inspections.
• Systematic maintenance and cleaning of the forklift
• Continuous tracking of the location of goods during material handling using WMS.
• Use the WMSystem accordingly and ensure accurate data entry.
• Perform any other manual job at the direction of the warehouse supervisor or team lead (e.g. sampling, inventory, cleaning)
• Keep the warehouse clean and tidy
• During the seed delivery and return season: ensure proper (loading and unloading) of transport vehicles with quality packages to meet customer expectations
• Maintain safety standards - initiate & follow emergency procedures when necessary

 

Physical Task Requirements:

• Ability of standing/sitting for extended periods; operating forklifts; repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting (minimal requirement 60 lbs.), exposure to warm and cold weather conditions.
