Job Summary Location: Avera Behavioral Health Center – Sioux Falls Worker type: Regular. Work shift: Rotating days, evenings, nights, and weekends (United States of America). Pay range: $24.50 – $48.50 per hour (actual pay depends on experience). Position highlights: Eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $15,000. Registered nurses with 3+ years of experience receive additional shift benefits (e.g., every 3rd weekend, every other holiday). Responsibilities Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health‑care team, and coordinating with other health‑care providers. Offer physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends; conferring with physicians. Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting patient physical condition and psychological status, and considering influencing social factors. Confer with family and friends to develop a nursing diagnosis, establish nursing care objectives, and define nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables. Teach healthcare requirements by setting patient‑care goals, instructing patients and families to understand their conditions, medications, and self‑care skills, and answering questions. Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against care standards, reviewing patient records, noting changes, and re‑evaluating care objectives; modify the nursing care plan as needed. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient‑care environment by following infection‑control policies, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled‑substance regulations. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Keep patient‑care equipment operating by following established procedures, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. Keep patient‑care supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) – Active license in the state of practice at the time of hire. Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing, or equivalent credentials required to obtain and maintain licensure. Experience: Preferred 1–3 years of clinical experience. Must be able to work the specified hours and shifts. Essential job functions: Visual acuity adequate for patient care, effective communication skills, and the ability to perform all tasks described.
