Stansell is seeking a talented Staff Accountant in the Odessa/Tampa region to join our team!

Stansell is a rapidly growing, WBE certified, general contractor specializing in commercial construction services across the Southeast United States. We focus on serving clients in the commercial market with emphasis on the following project types: restaurant dining and quick service food.

** Responsibilities **

** Job Cost Accounting **

• Review and code vendor invoices to appropriate jobs and cost codes in accordance with project budgets and contracts.
• Assist project managers with job cost tracking and reporting.
• Reconcile job cost reports and investigate variances.

** Accounts Payable & Receivable **

• Process vendor invoices and subcontractor pay applications.
• Verify lien waivers prior to releasing payments.
• Prepare customer billings and progress payment applications per contract terms.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and assist in collections follow-up.

** General Ledger & Financial Reporting **

• Prepare and post journal entries
• Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closings.
• Support external CPA during audits and tax preparation.

** Other Duties **

• Provide financial data and support for project managers
• Perform ad hoc analysis or special projects as assigned.

** Qualifications and Requirements **

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry or a general contractor environment.
• Understanding of job cost accounting, AIA billing, retainage, and lien waivers
• Proficiency in construction accounting software (Sage Intacct and Procore a plus)
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project management and operations teams.
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
