Winters Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team. Our pharmacy team works closely with medical, dental, and behavioral health providers to ensure patients receive timely access to medications and quality care.

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will help patients navigate prescription services, assist the pharmacist with medication preparation and distribution, process insurance claims, maintain accurate records, and contribute to an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate is bilingual in English and Spanish, enjoys working with people, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-based healthcare environment.

Position Overview

Position Term: Approximately September 2026 through March 2027

Hours per Week: 40 hours per week, including evening shifts

Location: Winters, CA, with occasional travel to Esparto, CA

Reports To: Lead Pharmacist

A Day in the Life of a Pharmacy Technician with Winters Healthcare

If you were a Pharmacy Technician with Winters Healthcare, you would be one of the first people our patients interact with when visiting the pharmacy. You may assist a patient with a medication refill, help resolve an insurance issue, answer questions regarding prescription pick-up, or support the pharmacist in preparing medications for dispensing.

Throughout the day, you will collaborate with pharmacists, medical providers, behavioral health clinicians, dental providers, and other members of our integrated care team to ensure patients receive timely, coordinated care.

You will assist with prescription processing, insurance verification, inventory management, patient communication, and pharmacy operations while maintaining compliance with pharmacy regulations and HIPAA requirements.

Summary of Duties

Under the supervision of the Lead Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician assists licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, processing prescriptions, maintaining patient records, supporting pharmacy operations, and providing excellent customer service to patients and community members.

Responsibilities

Patient Care & Pharmacy Operations

• Welcome and assist patients with prescription pick-up, refill requests, and pharmacy-related questions.
• Verify patient and prescription information for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications.
• Process insurance claims and assist with resolving billing issues.
• Collect payments and process point-of-sale transactions.
• Enter and maintain patient information within OCHIN Epic and RX30 Pharmacy Management systems.
• Respond to patient inquiries and appropriately triage clinical questions to the pharmacist.
• Assist with incoming and outgoing patient and provider calls.

Team-Based Care

• Collaborate with medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy teams to support whole-person care.
• Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and organizational initiatives.
• Support quality improvement activities and patient service excellence.

Inventory & Administrative Support

• Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmacy supplies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment.
• Support administrative and operational tasks as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (speak, read, and write).
• Current California Pharmacy Technician License.
• Strong customer service experience.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with electronic systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
• Commitment to serving rural and underserved communities.

Preferred

• Experience working in a retail or community pharmacy setting.
• Experience with OCHIN Epic and RX30 Pharmacy Management System.
• Experience in an integrated healthcare setting or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certification.
  
• CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate range is $25.00 - $31.25 and depends on experience and qualifications.

Hours

Operating Hours

• Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
• Wednesday and Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Working Hours

40 hours per week, including one evening shifts to support patient access and pharmacy operations.

Location

Winters, California, with occasional travel to Esparto, California.
