HR Coordinator - Southfield, MI

The Role The Human Resources Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of Human Resources, with a primary focus on recruiting coordination, onboarding, employee engagement, and general HR support. This role is also an important part of maintaining continuity across the HR function. You’ll be cross-trained in payroll, benefits, leave administration, workers’ compensation, and other core HR processes to provide reliable backup coverage when needed. We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, keeps the details organized, takes ownership of their work, and is eager to continue building broad HR experience in a growing, multi-state organization. What You’ll Do Recruiting & Onboarding Coordinate job postings, interview scheduling, candidate communications, and other recruiting activities. Partner with hiring managers and HR team members to keep candidates moving through the hiring process. Prepare offer and new hire documentation and coordinate pre-employment requirements. Coordinate onboarding and help create a welcoming, organized experience for new employees. Support employee offboarding and related administrative processes. Employee Experience & Engagement Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, company events, and other activities that support our culture. Assist with employee communications, announcements, and HR resources. Serve as an approachable first point of contact for routine employee questions and connect employees with the appropriate HR resource when needed. Help identify opportunities to improve the candidate and employee experience. HR Operations & Team Support Maintain accurate employee information and documentation in HR systems and process routine employee changes. Support HR reporting, audits, compliance activities, employee communications, and special projects. Provide general HR support to employees and managers and assist with day-to-day HR needs across the organization. Maintain working knowledge of payroll, benefits, leave administration, and workers’ compensation processes to provide backup coverage when needed. Assist with timecard and payroll review, benefit and leave questions, workers’ compensation documentation, and related HR processes during periods of coverage. Maintain confidentiality and ensure employee information and HR processes are handled accurately and consistently. What We’re Looking For 2–5 years of Human Resources experience, including experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, and general HR operations. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience. Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift between different areas of HR as needed. Professional and approachable, with the ability to work effectively with candidates, employees, and managers at all levels. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. Experience with HRIS, applicant tracking, payroll, or timekeeping systems; Rippling or similar experience is a plus. Experience supporting employees across multiple states is a plus. Willingness to learn, take initiative, and provide support across the HR function as needed.
