Clinical Director, Behavioral Health

Summary Active clinical New York license (LCSW, or PhD/PsyD) with board‑approved supervisor designation in your state of practice. Must have a Medicaid number. Hybrid role; must live in Westchester/Long Island/NYC area and have the ability to travel to MH sites in Forest Hills, North Babylon, Mamaroneck, Seldon, Riverdale, Syosset, Bensonhurst, Commack, Rockville Centre. Responsibilities Own day‑to‑day clinical operations for a state‑based mental health pod serving thousands of patients annually, including utilization, access, intake workflows, and operational performance. Lead a pod of 30–50 clinical FTEs (therapists, psychiatrists, psychiatric NPs). Provide board‑approved clinical supervision to pre‑licensed and newly licensed clinicians per state requirements. Coach and develop therapists and psychiatrists; build a culture of clinical excellence, peer learning, and evidence‑based practice. Hire, onboard, train, and mentor staff therapists. Monitor clinical outcomes, functional assessments and drive continuous improvement. Own provider utilization and scheduling efficiency—drive billable time to 75–90% while protecting clinician wellbeing. Oversee patient intake, triage, and therapist‑patient matching to optimize clinical fit and reduce no‑shows. Manage referral flow from PM Pediatrics urgent care, pediatricians, schools, and third‑party platforms. Drive visit volume growth and revenue per FTE targets while maintaining clinical quality. Work with mental health leadership team to develop and implement innovative programs across the service line. Qualifications Active clinical license (LCSW, or PhD/PsyD) with board‑approved supervisor designation in your state of practice and Medicaid enrollment in the state(s) of practice. 5+ years of post‑licensure clinical experience in mental health or behavioral health settings. 3+ years of leadership experience in clinical operations, practice management, or team leadership. Experience in pediatric or adolescent mental health settings (outpatient clinics, school‑based programs, integrated care). Proven ability to drive utilization, scheduling, and operational performance in healthcare settings. Strong business acumen: proficiency in data management and analytics including creating reports, spreadsheets, and presentations; reading and comprehending P&L statements; making data‑driven decisions. Clinical credibility: respected by therapists and psychiatrists as a clinician, supervisor, and mentor. Comfort with technology: proficiency with EMRs, telehealth platforms, scheduling systems, and analytics dashboards. Multi‑state licensure (especially for virtual care leadership) – nice to have. Direct experience with value‑based care, payer contracting, or population health management – nice to have. Track record of scaling clinical operations (growing teams, launching new programs, entering new markets) – nice to have. Specialty expertise in trauma, DBT, perinatal mental health, or other high‑need populations – nice to have. Prior experience in urgent care, retail healthcare, or high‑volume outpatient settings – nice to have.
