Scientific Associate Director, Human Disease Biology, Inflammation Research

Amgen seeks a Scientific Associate Director to lead disease biology research in inflammation, integrating multi-omic data and human genetics to identify therapeutic targets in respiratory, dermatologic, and rheumatologic conditions. The role combines mechanistic research with drug discovery translation and cross-functional team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop disease-focused discovery strategies using multi-omic and human data for respiratory, dermatologic, or rheumatologic diseases
• Lead cross-functional initiatives integrating human genetics, single-cell biology, spatial biology, and computational analyses
• Generate and interpret multimodal datasets to translate findings into actionable therapeutic hypotheses
• Design and oversee collaborations with academic, clinical, and technology partners
• Mentor scientists and contribute to departmental strategy on human biology and technology deployment

Requirements

• PhD, PharmD, MD, or Master's degree with 4-9 years relevant scientific experience
• Experience integrating human genetics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and single-cell datasets
• Understanding of drug discovery, target validation, and translational strategy
• Demonstrated ability to lead matrixed teams across scientific disciplines
• Record of scientific achievement through publications, patents, or therapeutic program contributions
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence strategy across stakeholders
